I Don't Know... Do You? ([info]barryhjr) wrote,

So I took a look at the entry on [info]reekrend's journal that everyone has been talking about.  Let me start off here with one word:  TYPICAL.  A bunch of pseudo-intellectual whiny kids and steel-trap minded morons sitting in their comfortable air-conditioned homes discussing "natural selection" that think they've earned the right to condemn thousands of people because they shop at Hot Topic.  Natural selection is about passing inheritable traits to your offspring that allow them to survive in an environment better than their predecesors.  So how exactly are we watching "natural selection" in process?  Did the human lifespan from birth to natural death suddenly reduce to days or hours?  I think we are watching local adaptation to a situation, but this whole natual selection discussion is bullshit.  As I said, TYPICAL.

I wonder how many of these self-proclaimed evolutionary experts left town when Isabel was coming?  How about Floyd?  Hugo?  Gloria?  Hazel? Or maybe even Camille for those morons out in the western part of the state.  How many of you would be prepared to leave eveything you've worked to build in your life behind?  How many people COULDN'T leave because they had no transport or no money?  [info]kamera_shy was in Norfolk during Floyd and couldn't leave for that reason.  If Floyd had been a major hurricane, should she have died for "natural selection"?  How many of you intellectual and emotional children would have been whining about natural selection then?  It's not a possibilty that we'll get a devastating hurricane on the Virginia coast one day, it's a CERTAINTY.  How do you think Willoughby Spit got there?  Are any of you truly prepared to abandon your lives should that happen?  Or will you sit around drinking PBR smoking cloves posting journal entries about how cloudy and windy it's getting?

The truth is all of these supposed "natural selection" and "darwinism" people are the ones that are getting knocked out of the gene pool.  Why do you think none of them want kids?  It's nature's way of saying YOUR time is up, don't haul your garbage any further down the evolutionary highway.

there is a difference between wisdom and intelligence, You can be intelligant and not be wise. Yet you can have intelligence Via Wisdom. then ofcourse there is the itelligence based on ignorance which is what I like to call 25 cent smarts as it mostly people trying to look or appear like they know something.
I have to say your post shows obvious wisdom, with intelligence. Ignorance is always one's undoing. I have lived to see many 'canes, Floyd, Andrew, Hugo, victor, Isabell and many others. Some small and forgetable, some strong enough to leave unforgetable marks. It was being stuck under the tree limb with water up to my nose, that I realized that sometimes even a small hurricane can cause just as much damage as the strong ones, and we should never take them for granted.
When someone dies in a 'cane to us it may be just someone, but those "just someones" are the loved ones to other people, and that is just what we are people, no matter what or merits or flaws. It's the pig headedness of People who think they are better than others, or perfect, and the Natural selectionists that makes a lot of people FEEL inferior and try to "fit in" to the point the harm them selves or others for life, some even to the point of death.
Could I possibly link to this post in a post I plan to make later as others should benefit from your words!

Link away my friend. I appreciate the kind words. I forgot you had some "direct" experience with hurricanes. :)

Yeah I guess I am one of those non intelligent people. The way I look at some of it, is that ok we lost people during the hurricane, but now that it's over those supposed intelligent people that evacuated and the supposed intelligent people that live in places untouched like in VA, NC and the other 40 some states can use said intelligence to quickly and proficiently help those that stayed and survived instead of sitting on said intelligence.

You will understand my statment when I make my post!

I was in South Carolina when Hugo hit in '89. I was a youngin'. We couldn't afford to leave so we sat through it. Pretty scary shit. A tree went through my parent's bedroom window.

I learned from that storm to never sit through a hurricane.
